Description
Design an elevated coffee scoop for the brand Fellow Products
Just Right is a series of curated coffee scoops for every experience level. Using bother weight and volume base standards, Just Right solves the issues for inconsistent coffee ground scoops through leveling and origami.
This project was individually completed for Georgia Tech's Junior Product Design Studio taught by Stephen Chininis.

The Problem

The Current Journey
By analyzing the current journey of the user, the highlight pain point areas focused on scooping and filling the coffee scoop.

Research Findings
Research was conducted through online surveys and in-person interviews.

Focusing on the various coffee users, I researched the three main categories to incorporate their needs in the final design.

Through the conducted research, the design statement was crafted to accommodate each persona's needs.

The Final Models
Just Right is a set of elevated coffee scoops based on weight and scale. Tested for perfection in both use and interaction, Just Right provides the most accurate scooping experience every time. With its blend of materials, Just Right aims to ease the coffee experience everyday drinkers regardless of their location and experience.

Coming up with the solution
Throughout the iteration phase, a crucial element explored was the mechanics for removing excess coffee grounds. From pivoting to automated springs, each method was tested, resulting in finalizing the design with a slider due to its simplistic and most natural function.

Sketches
Through sketching, I explored modular designs for coffee scoops to seamlessly blend between the different persona's needs. Each design utilizes a different mechanical property to activate the scoop.

The Volume Model
Accommodating the beginner persona, this scoop prioritizes the most accurate scoop proportioned per cup. A pivotal aspect of this design is the sliding/leveling mechanic, finalized with a classic slider to provide the most natural motion with easy assembly.

The Weight Model
For the expert persona who relies on weight for accuracy, this scoop utilized origami to elevate the scoop into a scale for everyday use. To optimize its use, this model aims to accentuate all the possible uses while still maintaining the utmost accuracy.

Verifying the Final Direction
Testing was conducted to verify various design choices such as the scoop's form, hand positions, and leveling mechanism. These tested models' fidelity varies from paper to cardboard to 3D prints.
